The Scooter Safari is Back - And Gareth Croy Is Taking It On

Some challenges test your endurance. Others test your purpose.

The Scooter Safari does both.

It sounds simple at first. A group of people riding scooters across New Zealand.

It’s not.

It’s a 250km ride from Christchurch to Hokitika, straight through the Southern Alps, on small city scooters that were never designed for that kind of trip. Cold air, long hours, and a machine that struggles on steep climbs. It takes most riders the better part of a day.

Our Managing Director Gareth Croy is doing it again this year.

Not for the experience. Not for the challenge alone. He’s riding to raise money for the Cancer Society.

Scooter Safari 2024

The event started back in 2009 when a group of mates wanted to support a friend going through cancer. Since then, it has grown into something much bigger, raising millions to support people who are dealing with diagnosis, treatment, and everything that comes with it.

That support is practical. It helps people get to appointments, find accommodation when they need to travel, and access counselling during a time that can feel overwhelming. It also contributes to research that aims to improve outcomes long term.

Gareth is riding as part of Team Care Bears, and they are currently sitting second overall in fundraising.

The ride is tough, but it’s short compared to what many families go through. That’s what sits behind this challenge.

At Your Future Strategy, we spend a lot of time helping people plan ahead and build better financial outcomes. This is a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful impact is much more immediate.

This is about showing up and doing something that helps someone else get through a difficult time.

If you can, get behind Gareth and the team.
