Paul’s work has always been physically demanding, and early on, he knew he wouldn’t be able to keep doing it forever. He and Charmaine needed a plan that didn’t rely on pushing through until retirement age. They were referred to our team through a friend, and while they weren’t sure exactly what they were looking for, they knew they needed help to figure it out.

At the time, neither of them considered themselves "financial people." But over time, they built a strong foundation—learning how to save, invest, and make strategic decisions that moved them forward. That planning made all the difference when Charmaine was diagnosed with cancer. Because the right insurance cover was already in place, the support they needed was there when it mattered most. They were also able to reframe their timeline and bring their goals forward.

We supported them by managing their SMSF, building an investment property within the fund, selling it, and guiding the next build now underway. In their personal names, they built and sold a duplex, using the proceeds to purchase their dream home on Stradbroke Island. Alongside this, we provided mortgage broking, assisted with insurance claims, and continue to support Charmaine with tax advice and return preparation.

Today, Paul & Charmaine are living in a place that once felt out of reach, with the freedom to enjoy it on their own terms. Paul often finds himself recommending the experience to others. “People always ask how we did it,” he says. “And I just tell them, this is where to start.”
