“I was born here on the Gold Coast, and like many locals my first job was at McDonald’s! A far cry from my role today. I was a sole trader for seven years and learnt bookkeeping skills so I could manage my own financial affairs. I wanted a bit of a career change so I studied an accounting degree while working as an in-house company bookkeeper and everything grew from there.
My day-to-day role here is basically bookkeeping & individual tax returns for our clients. As part of that role I do bookkeeping for companies & sole traders, including payroll processing for some of them. I run Xero training for our clients and help set them up in Xero so it all runs smoothly from the start, and I also review their Chart of Accounts to detect and correct past errors, prepare BAS (Business Activity Statements) & Income Activity Statements, and liaise with the ATO on their behalf.
The best part of what I do is managing the complexities of financial reporting for businesses to reduce the burden on management; allowing business owners to concentrate on more important matters and grow their business, knowing someone is in the background keeping their financial information up to date.
Outside of work I enjoy being active and spending quality time with my family. I love hiking, mountain biking & flamenco dancing, and I would have a ski holiday every year if I could!”
